2.14.13 Happy Valentines Day!

I have eaten all of the chocolate that I can find so my celebration of the day must be over.  But…I have thwarted the mockingbird with a paper fan-shaped shade called Redi Shade.  Available at Home Depot for those with bird problems.  He has not been annoying me since other than hearing his sharp scratchy claws on the alighting on the ledge a couple of times.

I have also spun and plied 650 yards of 2 ply Shetland wool top.  It is a commercial top from Louet and the finished product is roughly a dk weight.  It has a lovely wooly sturdiness, not merino but lovely.  I think merino is nice but I definitely like other breeds better.

Knitting continues on the Forest Darkness Bohus cardigan.  Slow progress but that is fine, the yarn is so soft and fun to work with. Some more photos for Benita!

I continue to wait for my surgical event, will get fitted for the neck brace on Monday morning. I again missed my weekly knit night because of neck muscle spasms. Such a pain in the neck….ha, you saw that coming didn’t you. So I have been trying to accomplish some things that have been waiting for me to feel like it.  I made some granola…

I have a little sampler quilt of 12 blocks that needs finishing.  It was a block of the month offering from a  local quilt store.  The fabrics are 30′s reproduction fabrics and I am finishing up the last 2 blocks tonight.  For some reason this little quilt appealed to me, usually I go modern and abstract but these blocks were so cute.   How should I set them?  On point? With plain blocks? Set straight with sashing?  It will be machine quilted once the top is finished (eventually) and here are some photos.  I am also making the “opposite” block with the fabric remainders…hate to waste those expensive fat quarters.
